>>> NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WEEK >>>

As we close out the week celebrating our success on the park today, we also want to recognise all that goes on behind the scenes.

National Volunteers Week was recognised from 20-26 May and we would have to say we have some of the best!

You may not realise, but EVERYTHING we do as a club is done by volunteers.

Coaches, committee, ground keeper, gate person, canteen staff, bar staff and everything in between.

We are fortunate at Steel United to have some incredibly dedicated, loyal and hard working volunteers who spend countless hours doing jobs for our club and we’d be lost without them.

No matter how big or small your contribution, we want to thank you. Past, present and those emerging, we see you, we appreciate you and we thank you.

Our club is who and what it is because of you!

** We also want to recognise that our amazing volunteers sacrifice so much of their own time for our club, and volunteer burn out is real.

We are ALWAYS looking for new people to join our team of volunteers and it’s time to step up!

Players, supporters, parents and community members, we need you! If you have time to spare and want to support, we’d love to hear from you!

Let’s give some of our long term volunteers the rest they so very well deserve. New blood welcome!

DID YOU KNOW OUR CLUB IS RUN COMPLETELY BY VOLUNTEERS?

Do you have an interest in Whyalla soccer?

Do you have some free time and want to contribute to a local sporting Club?

Do you have a skillset you believe we could benefit from?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, or would like to get involved and meet people, we would love to hear from you!

There are many roles within the Club that we require assistance with, such as:

  • Committee roles
  • Sub-committee roles such as specific event coordination
  • Grant writing support
  • Coaching and supporting coaches
  • Sponsorship support
  • Canteen and Counter Meal prep, cooking and serving
  • Volunteer for gate on game day
  • Pitch and ground maintenance
  • Recycling bottles and cans

And much, much more!

If you would like to get involved and be part of a progressive community sporting club, that is more than just soccer, please reach out!

“I have been volunteering as part of the committee at Steel United for a number of years now.

It is a great feeling being involved a local sporting club who values the diversity of its players and members and is committed to inclusion both on and off the park.

I highly recommend getting involved, it is a great way to give back and meet new people”
